Residents Association Meeting
October 28th 2009
Finance report
Outgoing:
E70.00 is owed for the signs recently purchased (one to ask drivers to slow down and one to ask dogs owners to control and clean up after their dogs).
E50.00 is owed for the flower bulbs purchased for the green areas.
Grass Cutting and Greens update
Bulbs have been planted at the entrance to the estate and Patrick informed that resident Ms M Kuhl has donated two trees, which can also be planted at the front area.
Clean Up and Estate appearance
The clean up of the estate was held and was a great success. Thanks to all who participated. M Caulfield has also removed the graffiti from the wall at the front area and thanks were expressed to Mike for same as this was a particularly difficult job.
The abandoned car at no; 31 has been removed which is a positive outcome for the general appearance of the area.
There are large pot holes remaining in the estate (two in particular) which need to be filled. Patrick agreed to follow up this issue again with Mr. O Shaughnessey.
The pavement at no: 25 is in need of repair and will also be looked into by Patrick and Mike.
Concern was expressed as the appearance of the estate at the entrance to the small plot of land unused and owned by Mr. O Shaughnessey. Previous efforts made to require the completion for this wall outlined to new members. It was agreed that the dumping of visible dumping of rubbish in that area reflects very poorly on the estate.
Ard Esker Website
We have a new website up and running! Future news and updates on estate matters can be accessed at www.ardesker.com. Thanks to a friend of Patricks who designed this free of charge.
It was agreed that the newsletter would continue with an annual distribution to update all on developments over the period.
Neighbourhood Watch
Some residents have expressed a wish to have a Neighbourhood watch in the estate. Previous efforts to develop this were outlined. Following a meeting with the Athenry Gardai a few years ago the committee were advised to seek agreement and support from the residents in the estate. The Gardai recommend a minimum of 50% interest before establishing a Neighbourhood Watch system.
It was agreed that an expression of interest in Neighbourhood will be put on the website to ascertain the current level of interest if possible and that Patrick will speak with the Gardai to get their list of tips and advice on keeping your home and estate safe. This will also go on the website.
There were no other matters and the meeting adjourned.

Estate maintenance
As you may be aware we were experiencing a problem with our
Green maintenance earlier in the year. To date the Greens have been cut by Mr J Shaughnessy,
the Estate Builder/Developer. Without notice Mr Shaughnessy ceased his
responsibility and when contacted has continuously failed to deliver on
his promise to address the matter. Mr P Creed (No. 25) kindly and
commendably arranged and paid for an acquaintance to come in and cut the
Greens recently and many of you kindly came out and assisted in raking
up the cut grass. This coincided with the Annual Clean-up which we are
sure you will agree was a massive success – thank you.
A small contribution has been identified as reasonable to request from each
Household to ensure that the Estate is maintained to
an acceptable standard. Any moneys will be collected by the Residents
Association Committee, receipted and kept in the Credit Union Account
recently set-up.
The appearance of our Estate dependends on Residents
willingness to fairly contribute.

Dogs
It has been brought to the Committee’s attention that Residents are
unhappy about the following:
- Dogs are been allowed out off leash to roam & foul freely
- Dogs are been brought to the Green area by their owners and allowed to foul freely
- Dogs are been allowed to bark continuously either during the day or night
None of the above incidents is welcomed nor permitted see
control of dogs
Residents are kindly and respectfully asked:
1. Do not allow your Dog to roam freely in the Estate.
2. If you bring your Dog to the Green for a poop – you must scoop and
dispose of waste in a sanitary manner.
3. Residents should be aware that: “Excessive dog barking that causes a nuisance is an offence. Your District Court can make an order requiring the reduction of excessive barking by a dog, can limit the number of dogs that can be kept on a premises or can direct that a dog be delivered to a dog warden as an unwanted dog.” See here& for more information and guidance.
